STARTS SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2023
Expected League Start Times released (August 1st).
Please note that Eastern Australia and New Zealand each change their clocks during Round 1. If you are in Eastern Australia or New Zealand, all leagues NOT attached to your timezone will appear 1 hour LATER after your clocks change. Notice Board
2023/24 Season - Round 1
- ALL 'D' DIVISIONS IN OCEANIA, ATLANTIC AND EMEA - ZRL Round 1 / Race 2:
While most will be seeing the blue race finish line in line with the end of the Shisa segment finish line, we are aware that some riders appear to be seeing the race finish line in front of the segment finish line. For the latter riders, no Shisa segment times are recorded.
For the time being all Shisa segment results are being removed from overall results for OCEANIA, ATLANTIC AND EMEA D DIVISIONS. We expect to be able to restore FAL later tonight but in the interests of both fairness and accuracy, FTS points on the Shisa sprint will be annulled.
A solution is in place for all America's D Divisions which should ensure that Shisa FAL and FTS segments are in play for your divisions.
- ZRL Round 1 Race 2 RacePasses available as of Friday 22nd Sept

Please reference the note regarding PowerUp Details at the foot of this page.
Visit the WTRL Help Centre for full details as to what each PowerUp is and what it is does
Powerups showing a YELLOW box and number indicate a specific power-up is allocated at that specific arch transition in the race.
EXAMPLE:
12345
equates to Aero at the 1st transitioned arch, feather at the 2nd, steam roller at the 3rd and draft at the 4th arch. This applied to Race 5 of Round 1 in the 2023/24 and means:
- ROOFTOP KOM Arch: Aero
- RAILWAY SPRINT Arch: Feather
- CASTLE KOM Arch: Steamroller
- TEMPLE KOM Arch: Draft (the D's finish here)
- The race transitions through the CASTLE KOM Arch again for the A, B & C divisions where another Steam Roller is issued.
EXAMPLE:
50%50%
equates to either a feather or an Anvil powerup will be acquired with a 50:50 chance of each.
We are working on a better means to display this information to competitors.

Competition Rules

ZWIFT RACING LEAGUE DIVISION LIMITS / RIDER CATEGORIES
Zwift Racing League will use standard Pace Group Category boundaries.
A riders pace group category for that race is determined when they cross the start line.
No Category & No Race History
- Riders with no Pace Group Category can not be invirted to join a team.
- They are advised to complete 2 or more 30 minute plus competitive races rpior to being invited.
- This is to ensure each riders category is reflective of their racing ability.
Pace Group Category Enforcement and Power Thresholds
- Riders whose Pace Group Category, zFTP, and/or zMAP surpass the designated threshold for their divisions will not be permitted to sign-up for or join that division/team's race.
- This approach ensures that riders are appropriately matched within their skill level.
Excessive zFTP or zMAP during races:
- Where a rider's zFTP or zMAP exceeds the division's limits during a race, a points-based penalty will be implemented.
- Additionally, these riders would be unable to proceed with their team in future races in that division.
- This measure encourages fairness and maintains a competitive balance.
Pace Group Categories displayed in Team Management:
- These are updated only when:
- A rider is invited to a ZRL team.
- At the point in time that teams are ranked for division allocation.
- When signed up for any WTRL managed race.
- Additionally, these riders would be unable to proceed with their team in future races in that division.
- This measure encourages fairness and maintains a competitive balance.
Progression within Pace Group Categories:
- Riders who successfully complete 50% of a round before upgrading within their Pace Group Category are permitted to continue participating with their team for the remaining duration of the round.
- This extension is subject to the condition that their zFTP and zMAP do not exceed prescribed limits during ZRL races in the latter half of the round.
- This approach is common to cycling and acknowledges the evolving nature of rider performance and pacing.
Further Zwift Category Enforcement information can be found on the WTRL Help Center.
For Open and Men's leagues, please note that both zFTP and zMAP are subject a zFTP watt floor.

Reporting Suspicious Behavior
The Zwift Racing League has been designed to provide both fun and fair competition as well as to grow the Zwift Racing community in an inclusive manner. WTRL and Zwift do work hard in the background to enforce the rules and ensure that our aims are met.
We would like to remind all competitors and teams that social media is not the place to be raising concerns on the legitimacy of riders, teams or a competition and there are official channels to report any suspicious performances.
The official channels are as follows:
- ZWIFT: Please report using THIS form, ensuring you include all requested information.
- WTRL: Send an email including the Zwift ID or ZwiftPower profile link, event ID numbers, full details and supporting evidence to [email protected]
PLEASE NOTE To maintain the privacy of our members, we won’t be able to update you on the outcome of your report. Please rest assured we will investigate each concern fully.

Segment Points (Points Races Only)
- First-Across-the-Line (FAL) Intermediate Points will be added to a riders score at designated intermediate sprints and climbs on designated laps. These are always 10 down to 1 for 1st to 10th position. If a scoring rider's result is annulled, their FAL points remain with the rider but are excluded from any individual or team tally. Please refer to ZRL Course Schedule for intermediates in play for each event.
- Fastest-Through Segment (FTS) Points will be awarded to the top 10 Fastest Times throughout the race at designated Sprints and climbs. This is scored per race (not per lap) on all passes through and scored as 20,15,10,7 to 1 for 1st,2nd,3rd,4th to 10th. If a rider posts the fastest time on lap 1 and the 2nd fastest time on lap 2 - the rider would earn 35 points for 1st and 2nd place. Do not under estimate the value of these points. Unlike FAL points, the top 10 will ALWAYS score.
- There are no Segment Points available in Scratch races or Team Time Trial events.

TEAM TIME TRIALS
Teams are ranked in division by the time of the 4th rider. 4 riders MUST finish to score League Points
League Points are allocated as per the League Points table below based on team rank. 1st place is 20 points, 2nd is 19 and so on.
LEAGUE POINTS
- For each Points Race the total Individual rider scores will be COMBINED (totaled) by team and ranked.
- Team Time Trials are scored on TEAM finishing position.
- The team with the HIGHEST total COMBINED scores will be declared the winner of the race.
- In the event of a tie in COMBINED scores (only applies to Points Races), teams are then ranked in the following order:
- Finish Points Total
- SBP Points Total
- FAL Points Total
- FTS Points Total
- If a teams total points are still tied, the position of each tied team’s best rider across the finish line shall determine the tied team’s ordering, with the team with the higher placed rider placing higher.
- Finish Points Total
- SBP Points Total
- FAL Points Total
- FTS Points Total
The Top 20 teams are awarded LEAGUE POINTS for each race (Points Races or TTT) in each DIVISION of each LEAGUE as per the descending ranking as follows:
1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th | 11th | 12th | 13th | 14th | 15th | 16th | 17th | 18th | 19th | 20th |

ZRL Community Division final League Standings
- At the end of the SEASON, the team with the most SERIES POINTS shall be declared the winner.
- In the event of a tie on Total Series / League Points, teams are then ranked in the same way as detailed above. This order is Total League/Season Points, Total Finish Line Points, Total FAL points, Total FTS points. In the event that this still results in a tie, it would fall to whichever team had the highest placing rider in the final race.
